Healthcare Managment Essay
What is healthcare management? Letââ¬â¢s sum it up to get a better sense of all what partakes in it, as well of doing it in an effective way. Simply put is the overseeing of all the healthcare facilities. Most likely patient encounter is not so likely, unless there is a means to speak or deal with a situation directly with patient. Healthcare relates to insurance companies, organization, and hospitals. It can get a little difficult because there are so many roles such ass, human resources, equipment, and scheduling .Being in this field is quite diverse, due to the many fields. Four Functions * As I mentioned before having this role you must be effective, in doing so there are functions that need to be set and used on a day to day basis. The first is ââ¬Å"organizingâ⬠, which to have organization is wonderful and keeps things running smoothly. What does this consist of simply understanding your staff and helping them with their staff by assigning them with their own and last but not least support. When employees have this to fall back on it helps in many ways for the organization. Second, ââ¬Å"planningâ⬠you can never go wrong if you plan right and plan ahead. There are objectives that need to completed, which requires decision to be made. It gives an overview of what is expected and gives better insight for all. Third, ââ¬Å"controllingâ⬠it is not necessarily what may come to mind at first. Managers have an obligation to always we on top of things, therefore in order for this to be done being involved with the performance of the team must come into pl ay. This allows management to be able to focus on what needs to be done whether good or bad. In turn it gives an overview of how things our running. Fourth, ââ¬Å"leadingâ⬠I see as not trying to be someoneââ¬â¢s boss/manager it is someone who builds you up for success. I can say myself that putting all four functions to work together every work day probably is not so easy. No manager is perfect, the most important thing is that you try to incorporate all in some fashion and with that things should be effective. Having children myself I feel that I am a manager with everything to go with all wrapped up in one. I am needed to make my household run in functional way. If there were no guidelines and leadership it would all come tumbling down. What Do I Want to Gain? * Learning how to be more diversified and in the professional healthcare world. I feel very strongly about this because my most absolute goal is to become a healthcare manager and I know that there is an overwhelming increases in diversity now days. Since knowing this and seeing I first hand I would like to make sure that when I become a manager for a facilities I can uphold the standard and respect for all people. This is not only for the staff, but for the patientââ¬â¢s sake as well. Having the knowledge and to be able to teach other and implement it within. References Lombardi, D. N., & Schermerhorn, J. R. Opening Statement for State V. John Hudson and Dale Buckner
Case #1 State v. John Hudson and Dale Buckner (Charged with murder and attempted robbery) Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemanâ⬠¦Todays trial will be on Felony Murder and Attempted Robbery. John Hudson and Dale Buckner are murderers. And the evidence of this case will show, that they have undoubtedly committed the crimes brought upon them and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.In accordance to the Penal Law, Murder in the first degree is defined ââ¬Å"With intent to cause the death of another person, he causes the death of such personâ⬠¦ the victim was killed while the defendant was in the course of committing / attempting to commit in furtherance of robbery [or other such felonies. ]{à §125. 27(1)(a)(vii)}â⬠This is also known as Felony Murder. Robbery is also defined as forcible stealing. On February 14th 2011 in a small clothing store owned and managed by Sidney and Sara Lazar, a very heinous crime was committed. Two average looking men wearing black leather jackets entered the store at approximately 3:15 pm, later to be ââ¬Å"provenâ⬠to be John Hudson and Dale Buckner. When approaching the counter with a . 38 revolver in hand, the defendant demanded all of the money from the register. As the other man stood point at the entrance to the store. Mrs. Lazar let out a scream, produced from shear fear for her life. In doing so, Dale Bruckner responded ââ¬Å"Shut her up Johnnyâ⬠which resulted in Mrs. Lazar being brutally shot in the head, dreadfully causing death on impact.Soon after the gun went off, the two men fled the store and took off in a black Cadillac sedan. This left a deceased woman and her innocent husband at the scene of the crime in a pool of blood. Five minutes later Officer Reilly arrived on the scene and accessed the situation. With diligent research and a thorough investigation, the arrest of the defendants was reinforced by the owner ship of a . 38 caliber pistol, a newly registered black Cadillac Seda n as well as a previous criminal record from both of the defendants. I will call the prosecutionââ¬â¢s witness Mr.Sidney Lazar to the witness stand to divulge the utter gruesome details of how his wife was shot in cold blood, in front of his very own eyes. I will also call to testify the prosecutionââ¬â¢s witness and innocent bystander Richard Green to the witness stand. He will help us positively identify the defendants, and reinforce that the defendants did in fact commit the crimes charged, as he was the only eye witness that saw the defendants leave the scene of the crime. These two men witnessed the crime take place and are testifying that the two defendants did in fact kill Mrs.Lazar. Investigator Sam Reilly will also be called to testify, in that he was the first investigator on the scene. Shortly after the murder, Officer Reilly went to the defendantââ¬â¢s home at 2435 Damen Street, apt #2B and forced down Mr. John Hudsonsââ¬â¢ and Dale Bucknerââ¬â¢s door. Whi le at the apartment, Officer Reilly Recovered a . 38 revolver (matching the gun from the crime scene), a black leather jacket, and a newly registered Black Cadillac Sedan; which matched the description of the getaway car.Due to officer Reillyââ¬â¢s work, pertinent details of the defendantââ¬â¢s background and belongings have been brought to trial and will help us prove that the defendants did, beyond a reasonable doubt murder, and assist in murdering Mrs. Sara Lazar. Upon arrest, the defendantââ¬â¢s both refused to make a statement concerning the killing of Mrs. Lazar. Ladies and Gentleman, the defense; John Hudson and Dale Buckner claim that they were not at the scene of the crime on the fourteenth of February at approximately 3:15 pm.Conveniently two months after the incident, William Barr was interviewed by Investigator Albert LaRue and swore that he saw the defendants at ââ¬Å"Samââ¬â¢s Chicken Shackâ⬠at about 3:15 on the day of the murder. He failed to mentio n this until two months later. His failure to be expeditious about his alibi just proves his minute acquaintance to the defendantââ¬â¢s. Although Mr. Barr might not have a previous criminal record, he is blinded to the lack of moral aptitude held by the defendants here today. In addition to Mr.Barrââ¬â¢s testimony, a Pathologist will testify and will help us better understand the cause of death, of Mrs. Lazar. As well as a ballistic expert, will attest to the knowledge of the weapon used in this murder case and will help us verify that the . 38 caliber pistol was in fact the murder weapon of this case. In the course of this trial I will demonstrate that these two defendants did in fact commit the crime of murder and attempted robbery. The lack of morality expressed by the defendantââ¬â¢s actions will assist us in concluding with a verdict of guilty for these two men.I expect to prove that without a doubt these two men are in fact murderers. Those who perform such crimes wit h intent to kill someone, men of distaste, and men of disgust, men who lack a conscience, and can kill an innocent woman deliberately with no remorse. Once again, these men are dangerous; we must prove today that the evidence brought upon us will show in its entirety that John Hudson and Dale Buckner committed the crimes before them. These two men must face ramifications and should go to jail forever. Mr. Hudsonââ¬â¢s previous conviction of aggravated assault and Mr.Bucknerââ¬â¢s previous conviction of theft go hand in hand. Their previous crimes make a perfect match for the situation imminent. They will be punished and Mrs. Lazarââ¬â¢s death will not go overlooked. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury let me ask you, would you be able to sleep at night knowing that these two men are on the streets, and have the ability to commit such a crime once more? Would you feel safe having your kids walk to the ice cream store knowing that these killers could possibly be around the corne r just waiting for their opportunity to strike again? These men must be taught a lesson now, so these streets can be kept safe for the ones we love. Definitions â⬠¢Robbery ââ¬â is forcible stealing. The Rich Brother by Tobias Wolff
February10, 2010 Learning can be accomplished By Writing What is good writing and how might we identify or create it? You may ask. Good writing is a clear analysis of oneââ¬â¢s ideas. It is organized and grammatically correct. Itââ¬â¢s not only clear, but intriguing and also keeps the reader entertained, or if needs be to inform them. To expound, according to our discussion ââ¬Å"Good writing is an organized analysis with a clear purpose or point that works to create understanding. It is done by using the rules of language to analyze or make an analysis of that point. Analysis is a form of literacy criticism in which the structure of a piece of writing is made clear. To deliberate in details, to analyze, is to ask what something means. It is to ask how something does what it does, or why it is what it is. Analysis is used in everyday life, at school, work and play. Good writing is created when one develops a main thesis or purpose. A thesis is the writer main point or gist that he wants to get actress to the reader. After, the thesis, questions are asked. Which by doing do analysis takes place? Then new and old information is entwined together o form the body of the paper or article. Do not forget that it must be grammatically correct and have a conclusion. A conclusion is basically a condensed version of the entire paper. By writing, whether it is good or bad, learning takes place. To create good writing, one must have a thesis or by gaining the main idea, then analyzing it by asking questions. For students in a writing class, though, the creative juices typically flow better when immersed in a more energetic setting. Discussions take and interaction between teacher and student is seen. Communication takes place, where the student is no longer afraid to ask questions. And if, they do ask questions it is notâ⬠how long should the paper be? â⬠As stated by Wesch ââ¬Å"My classroom looks less and less like a classroom and teaching is less and less like teachingâ⬠. (5)-Michael Wesch. This process therefore allows students to ask questions. Do not just ask questions but good questions. Questions are important to better ones learning because they open the gateway to our mind that has been closed or left dormant. To expound questions are the act of asking to gather new information to build on old knowledge. According to Wesch, ââ¬Å"We are all cut out for learning. It is what makes us human. Wesch puts it perfectly that ââ¬Å"Good questions are the driving force of critical and creative thinking, and therefore one of the best indicators of significant learning. Good questions are those that force challenge their own underlying biases. â⬠(5)-Michael Wesch. When a question is asked an answer is not really necessary. Wesch states that ââ¬Å"Oftentimes the answer to a good question is irrelevant ââ¬â the question is an insight in itself. The only answer to the best question is another good questionâ⬠. (5)-Michael Wesch. However, by asking questions one, gains new insight to add to the old knowledge as well as see the views of others. The students then will gather all the new information as well as their prior knowledge and use the rules of language to organize their thoughts according to the teacherââ¬â¢s rubrics. After which the paper is then developed. When the first draft of a paper is complete, a peer review is done. A peer review, evaluate professionally a colleague's work. This is to see any mistake the students may have done or any information that have been left out. Finally, seeing that all corrections are made, the prompt is answered and the rubric is followed, a final paper is accomplished. In conclusion in a writing class, learning can be achieved. By creating, communication between teacher and students. Learning takes place not only by writing of course but, by creating contextual conversations, by asking questions, in order to gain new information to add to old knowledge as well as understanding the information found.

King Lear: Family Relationships, Human Nature and Its Failings Essay
ââ¬Å"I love your majesty according to my bond; no more nor lessâ⬠(I. i. 94-95). Good morning teachers and HSC students. King Lear, a timeless story of family relationships, human nature and its failings. But what makes this play ââ¬Å"timelessâ⬠? The fact that it contains universal themes of love, jealousy and family relationships makes it applicable to modern times even though it was written for a 16thcentury audience. Two critics that have commented on the thematic concerns of family relationships and human nature are Maggie Tomlinson in ââ¬Å"A violent worldâ⬠and Jim Young in ââ¬Å"Still through the hawthorn blows the cold windâ⬠, both of which Iââ¬â¢ll be discussing, today in detail. The concept of family relationships is a prevalent theme that can be viewed on many levels, such as the deterioration, renewal and the nature of familial bonds. There are many family relationships in the plot of King Lear, with the two major ones relating to the sub plot of Gloucester and the main plot of Lear. In both these relationships, betrayal is the major factor that contributes to the deterioration of the kinship. In Gloucesterââ¬â¢s case, through the simple act of humiliating Edmund, where Gloucester says in his presence ââ¬Å"There was good sport at his making and the whoreson must be acknowledgedâ⬠(1. 1. 21-24), he created a rift in the relationship. Maggie Tomlinson brings up a rather significant point when she comments on the nature of the relationship and the trust that is abused. She states ââ¬Å"The evidence is simply not the sort of thing any one let alone a father would believe inâ⬠This illustrates the trust that is built in these types of relationships and the ability of it to be exploited. Family relationships are also seen between the daughters and King Lear. Shakespeare cleverly investigates the nature of relationships through Learââ¬â¢s test to see who loves him the most. Goneril and Regan are portrayed as manipulative people with the gift of words and courtly manners, but it can be noted that Cordelia also loves her father but cannot express it where she says ââ¬Å"I am sure my loveââ¬â¢s more ponderous than my tongueâ⬠(I. i. 76-78). With the absence of a maternal figure, one could question how much Lear loveââ¬â¢s, let alone, knows about his daughter. The fact that he banishes Cordelia, when she cannot express her love, shows the little knowledge he has of her weaknesses and strengths or the state of his mind. After surrendering his power, Lear demands love from his daughters Goneril and Regan, but does not receive, so he begins to plead. Jim Young comments on this deteriorating relationship, where Learââ¬â¢s perspective is that his daughters owe him love because of the material gifts he has given them â⬠Thy half of the kingdom thou hast not forget, where in I thee endowedâ⬠( II. iv. 177-181). This emphasises the obligations of the forced relationship instead of its natural occurrence. Another aspect that is deeply investigated in King Lear is human nature and its failings. To define human nature it is the attributes of humankind that are assumed to be shared by all human beings, making it a timeless theme. To be human is to fault and to learn from oneââ¬â¢s mistakes. Temptation is a core aspect that causes these faults and is part of human nature. Throughout the play, temptation can be seen especially through that of Lear. Its human nature to feel love but one of Learââ¬â¢s flaws is his pride, he wants to be praised, hear how much he is loved. But this flaw in his nature of temptation causes his downfall and the loss of his sanity. In his confusion, he becomes metaphorically blind. It is only during the storm that he receives his own test, where things might change or cease. It is in this storm that he goes back to nature as a primal being, where the only thing that distinguished him from an animal, was stripped , that is the ability to think and reason. Here, he is stripped of all clothes, and hence dignity presenting the failing of ones nature. Young goes on to say that Lear only becomes sane because of those around him especially the Fool. The Fool stands by with Lear and shares his in sufferings but is specific about one point: ââ¬Å"Never give your power to anyoneâ⬠. It is human nature to want power and respect, and when Lear gives it away, as seen through the losing of his knights, he himself becomes a fool. Lastly, Shakespeare also investigates human natureââ¬â¢s connection to redemption in Edmond. Edmond seeks redemption before he dies, where death is the redemptive justice. Knowing that he was not to live, he tried to change his evil nature by notifying others to go and save Cordelia from his murderous messenger, but as Maggie Tomlinson said, Shakespeare cleverly incorporates the attempts of a person to change their nature. Here, Edmond fails and is responsible for Cordeliaââ¬â¢s death. Tomlinson brings up the question if whether this shows that we can attempt to change, but it is our human nature to be conservative and not dwell into unfamiliar territory, and hence Edmond tries to do good by saving Cordelia but only fails. King Lear will continue to remain a timeless story, and enlighten audiences about family relationships and human nature, for years to come. One could only wonder if those in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s time appreciated the play, the amount it is appreciated now. Thank you.

Virginia Woolf Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Virginia Woolf - Essay Example The Hours are novels that represent life as it truly is rather than the way that society demands it should be and this is a theme that will be discussed in this paper. Mrs. Dalloway is a story that has as its main focus life in Britain during the interwar period and it attempts to deal with issues that individuals in this society were not willing to talk especially in public. Among the issues that were taking place in this society, yet nobody was willing to address is the existence of homosexual and lesbian relationships. These were issues which were hardly ever addressed in the relatively conservative society of Britain during the first half of the twentieth century and it created a situation where such relationships were often looked down upon. The same situation occurs in The Hours where while there has been considerable progress since the time of Mrs Dalloway, where the so-called non-traditional relationships were hardly ever recognized, Cunningham addresses the new issues that have become a reality in the modern world, specifically HIV and AIDS. Cunningham uses Richard, a prominent writer who has just won an award and suffers from AIDS, to pe rsonify the manner through which individuals in the modern society have come to suffer from this disease. One would argue that it is through the characterization of Richard from Clarissaââ¬â¢s perspective that Cunningham comes to inform the reader of how while the modern world may have accepted homosexuality, it has yet to come to terms with AIDS. The myths and stigma that are attached to this condition seem to be the cause of the depression that Richard seems to be suffering as seen through his not being excited about the party that Clarissa is preparing for him for winning the award. When one compares Mrs Brownââ¬â¢s character in The Hours with that of Mrs Dalloway, one will find these characters to be very similar. One would argue that this is mainly because they both seem to be unsatisfied with the life that they are

Applications of EHR on Inpatient Nursing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Applications of EHR on Inpatient Nursing - Essay Example This paper seeks to discuss application of electronic health record system in inpatient nursing. The paper will explore application of the technology in inpatient nursingââ¬â¢s assessment, medication, and documentation. It will also explore successful implementation of the electronic health record system and its importance in the scope of inpatient nursing. Application of electronic health record in documentation The core function of electronic health record is the development of a reliable information system for efficiency. This has led to transition, alongside technological developments, from a manual record keeping system to the electronic system through computer technology. The information system has further enhanced the health record system through networking involved instruments, departments, and personnel in the electronics record systems. Documentation is, as a result, one of the applications of electronic health record system through a variety of system applications that includes provision of information in facilities such as inpatient nursing facilities. The scope of documentation, based on its definition, includes recording of information and availing the recorded information for necessary use. The ââ¬Å"nursing information system,â⬠an incorporated system in inpatient nursing institutions is for example used in documenting information for administrative purposes (Carter, 2008, p. 4). The system manages all information relating to inpatients such as patientââ¬â¢s admission that provides relevant details of a patient to the hospitals system (Carter, 2008). Guite et al further explains that electronic health record is used to capture and communicate a patientââ¬â¢s details for determination of patientsââ¬â¢ needs and evaluation of the patientsââ¬â¢ utility while in the nursing facilities. Coordination also facilitates knowledge of patientsââ¬â¢ needs among personnel on duty (n.d.). Documentation in electronic health record is al so used to facilitate management of information for timely discharge of patients and even transfer of patients to other facilities for specialized attention. Like in admission, documentation, through a centralized operated system facilitates inter departmental communication to relay the need for either discharge or transfer. Similarly, documentation as an element of electronic health record facilitates accounting aspects of health care institutions, a role that is achieved through recording and organization of financial transactions and communication of the information to managers for administration (Carter, 2008). Inpatient nursing facilities also use electronic health recordââ¬â¢s documentation to facilitate direct personal communication among nurses through online chats for instant communication. The application of electronic health record in documentation is therefore based on its ability to develop a bank of necessary and relevant information to inpatient care and to communi cate such information to relevant departments and personnel for efficient operations and management. Standardized terms and systems for uniformity in documentation facilitate the efficiency by eliminating language based communication barrier (Carter, 2008). Application of electronic health record in nursingââ¬â¢s documentation is however subject to legal considerations that aim at preventing malpractices such as fraud. Such rules apply to both EHR technology developers and users in inpatient nurs

Chain of Command - Essay Example In this case Lyndon Johnson, who was President of the United States when the most powerful country on the face of the earth went into what is called as the limited war ideology in Indo-China, his Secretary of National Defense Robert McNamara, General William Westmoreland, the man in charge of the US military operations in Vietnam in the 1960ââ¬â¢s, the division and battalion commanders and the individual soldiers in full battle gears. Soldiery, from top to bottom, is guided by the laws of modern warfare specially those task to institute peace and freedom as the Military Review by Sargent (2005) noted, we simply cannot afford to collaterally alienate the people we are trying to influence, liberate, protect, or aid. Not everyone in the field can have the honor and pride of taking orders from the Commander-in-Chief in the form of a morale-boosting pep talk and encouragement. Under constant threat of dragging into the mayhem two of the biggest armies in the world, China and the USSR a nd the wounds of World War II and the Korean War still fresh from the minds of the American people, the United States went into employing the doctrine of limited war.
